Although times are a bit hard these days for majority of people, one still can’t resist the urge to check out luxury brands in the hopes of finding the heart and money to shell out xxx amount of dollars in exchange for the prestige of owning a piece from one of the top ten venerable luxury fashion houses.

10. ERMENEGIlDO ZEGNA. 1910 (ITALY)

Founded in 1910, Ermenegildo Zegna is an Italian fashion house specializing in menswear. The company is family-owned and currently being run by the fourth-generation of the Zegna family. The fashion house is lauded for its impeccable suits and makes suits as well for other equally luxurious brands such as Tom Ford, Gucci, and Yves Saint Laurent. In efforts to further expand the business and the brand, they are currently in partnership with Estee Lauder Co. to exclusively develop and market fragrances and cosmetics for the Ermenegildo Zegna Group’s brands.

9. ARMANI, GIORIGIO ARMANI, 1975 (ITALY)

Italian designer Giorgio Armani probably has the most number of diffusion lines in the fashion business. There is Armani Jeans, Armani Exhange, Armani Junior, and Emporio Armani just to name a few. Famous for his clean lines and perfect tailoring, he is said to be one of the most successful Italian designers with a massive empire and equally massive personal fortune. The brand is currently doing collaborations with hotels all over the world so wealthy jetsetting consumers can get themselves immersed in the wonderful Armani lifestyle.

8. FENDI, ADELE CASAGRANDE, 1925 (ITALY)

Unlike other luxury brands on this list, Fendi solely focuses on accessories such as handbags, shoes, small leather goods, wrist watches, and perfumes. And what a smart move it is for the brand as women are particularly obsessed with Fendi’s line of bags. Their iconic baguette handbag has already permeated pop culture and was heavily featured on “Sex and the City” as the bag of choice of Carrie Bradshaw.

7. PRADA, MARIO PRADA, 1913 (ITALY)

Prada is another one of the premier fashion brands born in Italy. What started in 1913 as a leather goods shop importing English streamer trunks eventually led to the brand’s introduction of its line of totes and backpacks fashioned out of sturdy black nylon which we have the founder’s granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, to thank for. Almost everything else just fell into place after that and the house just grew and grew and now offers a complete line of men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories.
